About Us

Founded in 1905, as The Woman’s Club of Hollywood this is a 501c3 non-profit philanthropic, charitable, civic and social organization, with an emphasize now on the preservation and celebration of our historic club and property. We continue to celebrate those amazing women who blazed the trail for all of us more than 100 years ago.

With its’ roots deep in Hollywood history, the Club property is the site of the former Hollywood School for Girls (1908-1932) – where Jean Harlow, Carole Lombard, Douglas Fairbanks Jnr., Joel McCrae, the daughters of Cecil B. DeMille, David Selznick, Louis B. Mayer and many other Golden Era legends attended. Oscar winning costume designer Edith Head was a teacher. Actor Charles Laughton taught Shakespeare.

Since 1905, the Woman’s Club members have worked together to serve and enhance the Hollywood community. A tradition that is carried on today. Our celebrated members, attendees and guests have included Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Gloria Swanson, Joan Crawford, Gary Cooper, Lucille Ball, Rhonda Fleming, Arlene Dahl, Anne Blyth, Tippi Hedren, Melanie Griffith, Doris Roberts, Steve Allen & Jayne Meadows, Tim Allen and many more.

Some women’s clubs have had an image of simply wealthy ‘ladies who lunch.’ But the Hollywood Club is different, because our members are an eclectic group of working women (and men), some with time or budget constraints, who really want to make a difference in the local community and celebrate Hollywood’s illustrious history. Many work in various areas of the entertainment industry and use their expertise to mentor new members and to help the club survive and thrive. The Club is run by volunteers – so we need and welcome your input and participation.

After a lengthy closure, the Club is open once more and WCH members are again hosting their famous monthly luncheons, fundraising events, Afternoon Teas, Happy Hour and evening ‘salons.’ We have free Coffee Mornings where ideas can be shared, networking done and an opportunity to work on some of our philanthropic projects, such as creating care packages for homeless veterans, helping autistic teenagers, educating our community about the fascinating history of Hollywood and the amazing women who  helped build this global icon – or even just a fun game of cards, or music and dancing. Members decide.

With younger members joining the Club, we are introducing some new ideas as we move forward: the Young Hollywood Club, for those eight years old to eighteen, a special Student Rate for eighteen years to twenty-five.  A variety of workshops are being offered, including Television Production, Memoir Writing, Mystery Writing, yoga, meditation, Hollywood History, Financial and Estate Planning, computer and photography classes, Healthy Living, cooking and so much more.

Our facility and parking is avail for film, we rent our facility and parking lot for film, television and photographic shoots, for conferences, lectures, concerts, celebratory and business luncheons. We also raise money with our special fundraising events and through generous (tax-deductible) donations and sponsorships.

This is just a sample of the many things you’ll find at the new Hollywood Club, L.A. So please join us at one of our events or contact us to find out other opportunities for you to participate in the adventure – and be part of Hollywood History.
